Hey, could anyone please explain the difference between an arc-actuated knife like the trident or aegis and a piston like the flash? I mean, what's happening inside a trident when it locks up? I understand what the piston does inside of a flash knife but the arc system is not as readily understandable to me.

They are pretty much the same. The biggest difference is that the Arc-Actuator knives use the actuator to release the piston lock. This added leverage on the sliding piston lock allows for a smoother release of the lock.
