ARC lock VS AXIS lock

I have read a few things about the arc lock vs axis lock. SOG vs Benchmade. I have owned both and I like the arc lock better by far. The axis lock is still great, but SOG got it right. I like how the blade stays retained when I close my knife with the arc lock as opposed to benchmade my blade bounces back halfway open. Does anyone have this problem with the arc lock. I have only had one arc lock knife and a few axis locks. All the axis locks bounce back. Does anyone have this problem with the arc lock? I might have to get rid of my benchmade knives :p

SOG's quality is FAR superior; Benchmade is generally junk. You should send me all your Benchmades. :D

How about we trade do you have a Flash you would trade me? I will give you my Benchmade Triage, Griptilian, and mini grip for it!

Now thats a deal!!

If he doesn't want that trade I'm sure you could find a ton of folks who would, IF you were serious, which I'm sure you're not ;).

I like both the ARC and AXIS locks. Have several of both and no complaints.
Some folks don't seem to like the ARC, but I have the feeling many of those are folks who don't care for SOG period.
One thing I'm scratching my head about lately is why BM put out an AXIS lock with a flipper. Like it wasn't easy enough to deploy with just the AXIS.

I find SOGs quality (in folders) decent for the money. The qualifier there is I normally only buy at prices well below MSRP.

Benchmade makes darn nice stuff and I've never had an issue with the quality. I don't care for their pricing policies and overall I find the company a bit pompous. They seem to want to be William Henry when they aint.

I do have issues with their quality control. I gave up on them several years ago unless I could inspect the knife before purchase, which is not an easy thing in Atlanta; no real knife stores but at least we have Blade each year.
I was told by a couple of folks "in the know", that BM had totally overhauled their QC department. I hope that is true. Maybe I can get interested in them again.

Can you cite the reasons why you think SOG is far superior? I've seen plenty of chatter on-line where people boast Benchmade as being superior. But, much of the time they don't qualify those claims. I often wonder if they bash SOG because they don't make their knives in the USA, like Benchmade.

I hope that was sarcasm, lol!

I have had the same issue with manual SOGs and Benchmades. WHen it happens it means that I and probly you are using too much force to swing the blade closed. Mitigate the closing flick on your Benchmades and you shouldn't have the "bounce back" issue. I find the axis lock is much smoother than the arc lock and I find that I just enjoy Benchmade's deesigns and materials much more than SOGs

I've found that both SOG and BM have nice knives and mediocre knives, but that SOG tends to dip lower in the spectrum. My friend has the SOG Pentagon Elite, and it's a hell of a knife. $90 for a VG-10 arc-lock folder. Good construction, super smooth arc-lock, good ergos, good clip, etc. I'd gladly carry that instead of many of my Benchmades.

SOGs non-arc folders though, can be a bit of a wash. A great example is the Trident. It has a cord/belt cutter that is almost impossible to use. A way too powerful assist that hides a rough pivot. Tends to develop blade play both vertical and horizontal.
