Arc lock vs axis

Now I'm not looking at what lock is stronger or more secure. I've had a really bad taste put in my mouth having the omega springs break on axis locks and I'm wondering how do the arc lock work. Does it have those little flimsy springs inside of it? Is it less likly to have spring failure?

If possible could anyone post a picture of a disassembled arc lock knife because I haven't been able to find one.

Just to be clear I'm not comparing these locks or trying to start a this or that is better conversation.

If I remember correctly from when I took apart a Sog Flash 1, it had a small coil spring to move the lock. It has a pin and spring and moves the pin into the space between the tang and stop pin or something.
It also had blade play right out of the box. The lock pin that slides into the tang and stop pin, didn't fit snug and would not lock up tight.
I only took the knife apart once to see why it wouldn't lock up tight, then put it back together and gifted it. Someone might be able to open theirs up and post a pic.

Flash one has a totally different lock then the arc lock though.

The large one, whichever that one it... and that might not use the arc lock either.
Havn't had many sog knives so I might have gotten mixed up.
my apologies if that's the wrong one.

It's okay, the lock looks very similar I've actually had a flash and it wasn't too bad. The flash the lock is only on one side an is arc actuator and the actual arc lock is on both and is very similar to the axis lock.

Gotcha, that type actually sounds pretty good. I am interested in getting more information on that type as well.

I know only a little about it they don't seem popular and idk why. Sog vulcan is the most appealing model to me. Flipper comes in 2 sizes mini and full sized 3.5 inch blade deep carry clip.

Based on the SOG Vulcan I used to own, it looked like the spring is inside the arc lock pivot pin. I don't remember seeing an omega (or similar) spring.
Since I didn't do a full disassembly of my Vulcan (only took off the scales), this is kind of speculative. My gut says that there would be very little difference between reliability.

Edit: There are omega springs and some other spring in the lock pivot. I remember removing the omega springs and wondering why it's still locking up.

So it still works even if the omega spring was to fail like how my benchmade omega springs failed and knife was useless.

they're omega springs, through and through

Will sog send them out or do they pull a benchmade and act like they are installing uranium springs and have to be handled by someone with a axis lock masters degree and force you to send it in on your dime for their weak design.

haha. We get it, we get it: you don't like Benchmade. -oh, and you're not trying to start a debate. We get that, too.

Hopefully someone will chime in and let you know "how do the ark lock work [sic]".

Was posting on a iphone so that is why there is so many misspellings. And when i had my griptilian the omega springs failed i sent it to benchmade. 4 months later they failed again, normal every day carry use no abuse no hard use no anything like that. But that's obviously my fault i used the lock on the knife and opened and closed it i guess because i still have to pay to send it to them and get it back. Kept it for a few more months and the one side of the omega spring broke for a third time so i decided to just give up and get rid of it. 3 times paying shipping costs with insurance to them plus the return shipping i would be half way to a new knife.

I have a Mini-Rukus, a 710 and two Grippies, and have not experienced any problem with the Omega springs (so far, anyway, touch wood).

Funny, I had one spring fail on my BM585 mini Barrage and it took me weeks of using it to realize it. I ignored it until BOTH springs broke ... and the knife was still perfectly usable, simply a manual locking mechanism. I sent it in anyway after I'd thoroughly dulled the edge, cost ~$3, and I got it back in a few weeks razor-sharp and as good as new
Looking at those SOG images, I am less worried about the springs than the TANG - 2 thin arms of steel around the pivot pin right where stress will focus. It looks like the tang is begging to break...

You don't like Benchmade because you had a bad experience with ONE knife and therefore condemn the lock-design? Well, good luck with SOG...
