Arc LS Seconds for $49.95

I know,

I've been wanting one of these for awhile now but couldn't justify the $100 + dollars. This was great timing.

This sale is only going to be for a couple of days I'm told so if you're thinking of getting one, don't hesitate.

Mine's ordered.

Shame about the $25 FedEx shipping, tho!

Tell you what I think when I get it.

Well I just received three and every one is defective.
Someone else on CPF ordered three and his are all defective as well.
I'm sure Arc will make it right but $50 is looking like less of a bargain now.

What are the defects ?

They had them on sell before. . .but I backed away when I saw the disclaimer (on the sale page of their web site). . .

Factory Seconds! Sold "As-is". 7-day return policy. Factory seconds have problems with tint variations, finish blemishes, beam centering, old style optics, etc. All lights tested to work. Be aware that these products are not Arc first quality.

:(

They do offer a "7-day return policy."

Two would only work intermittently and one wouldn't work at all.
I've since found out that the problem is the new battery pack.
They redesigned the power head and as a result, the old style battery packs were unscrewing in people's pockets.
So now they've redesigned the battery pack to solve that problem and created a new one.
Now the thing simply won't work with certain brands of batteries.

Ok.
I ordered on 1 November, UK evening.
It's arrived 4 November UK Morning.

That's blinding shipping and it obviously sailed customs - no sign of a UK stamp on it.

The light?

Case itself looks like it has a tiny ding (or white epoxy?) at the top end of the knurling.

The beam is startlingly bright (wow) and you can actually see a beam (OK. I had to go iinto the pantry to try it.) It may look a teeny bit yellow but seems to have a good shape.

Battery? Duracell Ultra DL123 and no probs.
Impartially? If you like neat little torches (it is) with a high gadget appeal (it has), but can't justify the full price (I can't), I'd *seriously* think about buying one of these seconds. (I have).

I gather Peter Gransee is closing this offer on 6 November.

If you want one, buy now. [I did, and am pleased I did - no connection bar happy customer. They only FedEx internationally at $25.00 - but the item is good enough and the delivery quick enough that I thought it worthwhile. I'm normally a Global Priority only kinda guy.]

Mine just arrived. I selected 2 day shipping, it took 4 days but I guess weekends don't count.

It did not come with a battery, the other high end lights I have bought have.

There are some small imperfections on the Star. They do not efffect function.

I was not overly impressed with the amount of light it puts out, about the same as a decent regular flashlight, about the same as a mini-maglite with fresh batteries, slightly brighter than a photon II.

It is no where near as bright as my stinger or full size maglite.

The light has a nice amount of throw for an LED type.

I am using mine as a back up light and for searches.

I have an X5t, a Infinity Tasklight and a Surefire E2e coming from Texas tactical supply in the next day or two. I am interested to see how the X5t compares to the Arc LS.
