Arc LS vs. SF E1e/KL1?

Which would be brighter (overall) and which would have a longer batt life? Also, how do their sizes compare?

Go with the Arc. You could check Roy's runtime charts on CPF but I would think that the Arc will give you longer runtime. It's definitely brighter and more compact. I would save a few bucks up though and get one of Doug Speck's Fire~fly flashlights instead. Best and brightest little light I have ever owned.

Where can one pick up a Doug Speck Fire~Fly? I've tried to find info but can't find sales info online. A search at CPF, on the other hand, turns up too many threads to swim through.

As for GarageBoy's original Q: I had both and resold the E1e/ KL1. My Arc LSH is more compact, runs longer and was slightly brighter.

Better than both the Arc LSH-P and SF KL1 is the Longbow Micra. Brighter, better throw, and 90+ minutes runtime (some have gotten nearly 120 minutes). It's also cheaper than the others. Build quality is near Surefire level (aka, better than Arc). They come in Clicky and Twisty switch versions. I prefer the Twisty since it's shorter.

I've tried the longbow mini (2 * 123) and concur it's a better deal then the ARC.

I like the ARC LS. Had mine underwater for about 20 minutes and still worked fine. I don't think I would try that with my Surefires.
