Very interesting. Thanks for the link. I'd always wondered how they made wootz steel. I've made a couple of pattern welded blades,but it's much too like hard work to make a kukri by hand! I think truck springs are easily the best idea. As usual the kamis have got it sussed!
 
Thanks for posting a very informative article. Most of the info was over my head, but I did comprehend enough to get a better understanding of the complexities in making damascus steel.:)
