ARCHIVE RETENTION PERIOD?

I noticed the current 'Archives' often referr to an older archive that is no longer accessible.

How long will the current archive be available?

At what point does the current forum revert to archive, and possibly replace the current archive?

Reason for asking? I have been bookmarking many, many threads for compilation into different categories, from descriptions/comparisons of different Khukuris, handle maintenance/repair, various fixes, many categories that I haven't nailed down quite yet, as it keeps changing..

Alternative is to start printing all the threads I feel I need for my edification, but many threads are long and may only have 2 or 3 posts that are applicable.

You may be speaking of the 3,000 post long archives that used to be on Knifeforums. You can check to see if they are still there: if not, you are out of luck.(Well, not really, but they've been recorded and stashed by nameless persons against the day when a virus wipes them out. )

Here on Bladeforums, you probably had the links to older archives which when moved to the new upgraded server were previously separate but have now been consolidated. The old Himalayan Imports Archive #1, and #2 are now combined. Go looking under date rather than bookmarks.

Instead of bookmarking, why not highlight, copy and paste em' into a word processor file. I never rely on the internet to keep stuff in place permanently.

After a year or two of compiling this data, you can send lazy people like me a copy. :)

That's what I do... I've got files that I occasionally cut and paste posts into. Topics include woodchucking, blade maintenance and recipes. The latter is my favorite.

Bruise, remind me to send you a copy of Rusty's Hangover Soup. :p

I asked Spark about this quite sometime ago. Spark's response was that he combined the two archives into the current one. There were a lot of posts cut when the first slowdown occured that didn't need to be on the forum anyway IIRC.
And the way the posts in here tend to wander of course some good stuff was lost as well.

Some people themselves had a lot of posts cut from the latest round of exorcism.;)
