I have a sog arcitech question. I recently was given this knife as a gift. It was NIB. Within two weeks it developed vertical blade play. Did it happen to anyone else? Is it normal in arc lock knives (this is my first sog)? Any advice or easy fix?

I haven't had a full built (non-Zytel) Arc-lock yet, but both my Pentagon and Pentagon II developed vertical play. My advice is, send it to SOG and tell them it needs warranty work, and next time, buy a Benchmade or Spyderco - the Ball Lock is the only Axis clone that's up to snuff, neither SOG nor Cold Steel do it well enough, in my experience.

I like SOG fixed blades and lockbacks just fine.

Sorry to hear about that. Even with the blade play that was one nice gift!! I have an Arcitech, and so far mine has been fine. It doesn't get very much heavy use, though. I also have a SOG Trident in my collection with the arc lock, and that has seen quite a bit of heavy use without issue.

I agree, send it back to warranty and see if they can help, and normally yes, get a Spydie or Benchmade for using all the time. But do not get rid of that Arcitech. It's still one beautiful knife to look at and handle. I just leave mine in it's spot in my case and show it off;)

Cheers,
Jon
