Are All Torx Sets Created Equal?

I have the Benchmade Blue Box and I primarily use it on my Bradley Kimura
Balisong. It does not fit the smaller screws exactly. Not sure if it's the
screws or the tool. Are there more precise fitting Torx sets out there or
are they pretty much all the same?

Not all sets are created equal the cheaper sets are either under or over sized. IMO the best on the market at this time is the sets by WHIA. Stay away from those by Sears/Craftsman as they tend to round out screws very easily.

I picked up a Husky torx set from Home Depot a few years ago and it has worked fine for all my knives (80+). Seems like I paid around $ 6.00 for it.

Mine are Eklind, they work well. That said, I got these because they didn't carry Wiha.

i'm with ya, man :( i can NOT get any of my torx to fit the spacer screws in my Kimura. i think it's the screws. i was ready to blame it on my cheap chinese torx, but if your blue box is doin it to, then probably not.

i don't remember exactly which ones, but i think it was T6 and T7. one's too big one's too small. weird as hell, really.

Because I have so many Benchmades, I bought individual T-10 and T-6 drivers from Craftsman and they are great.

yea, that's what i was gonna do - buy a few Craftsman torx, before i call Kershaw and ask where they got T6.5 screws from :D

i've had great luck with all my other Craftsman tools.

+1 to wiha I cant say enough about how amazing they are. I have a few knives that have screws as small as t3 that after they are installed get buffed over and the wiha T3 driver still managed to grab it quite securely

wiha are good i have every brand known to mankind sometime the screws seem they are to small and have play.........

I have a $5 Kobalt Torx bit driver that works great on all my knives. It came with 8 bits, the smallest being a T4, and it works great

For Wiha fans, are there any particular tools that you would recommend? It looks like they have a bunch of different options, various bits, drivers, etc.

The Home Depot set is great and really inexpensive. I've read bad things about the Benchmade Blue Box.

I use a Husky mini tool, and it seems to fit all my knives very well. The bits store in the handle, and the tool goes with me in my EDC bag wherever I go.

But if you're going to be using it for more often than the occasional clip swap, pivot tightening or disassembly for cleaning, definitely look at some higher-end tools:

You get what you pay for when you buy tools.

Wow they have a lot of choices on the WIHA site. Anyone recommend a
good set from there for basic tightening/adjusting and occasionally taking
apart a knife?
