Are Benchmade Opportunists discontinued?

Interesting question. I know BM listed "440" as a discontinued model. However, it seems it's back :) (and this time with a pocket clip :eek:) link.
 
The optional pocket clip will make this one a potential for me. It is silly they ever made it w/o the optional clip. You could leave it off, but it is nice to have the holes drilled if you want a clip.
 
I've got one of the older models without the clip and use it for dressy occasions.

I think that's the wrong clip for the knife. This needs a narrow slim clip as was on the 770s or the NRA Steigerwalt.

I'm pretty sure the Opportunist is not discontinued. It will still be in production nex year.
 
I'm on track for getting one. Does anybody have any powerful yea's or nay's on it?
I have a mini-grip I really like and an s30v Spyderco Native that seems like great steel; have I messed up going after the Opportunist?

I'm on the old school pocket knife side of things, not the tactical side.

That one I could understand because it was an Elishewitz clip on an Elishewitz-designed knife. This one, eh, I agree that the split arrow doesn't seem to jive with the 440. A Mnandi-style clip could be nice on there.
 
I have a BM440 and I love it without the silly pocket clip or the holes that are left behind when I remove the clip.

I am very fond of the blade shape; I find it very useful!
 
I have handled many different BM models, and the 440 is the one that seems to exhibit the highest quality construction. That has been my experience. I have one, and it works great for slacks carry.
 
Thanks for the encouragement. I paid for it today and should have it by the weekend.

Who says Christmas shopping isn't fun? Just go to the hardware/tool store, the book store and the liquor store and go: 1 for me, 1 for them; 1 for me....
