Are Busses part of the army's arsenal?

From the looks of it, Busse knives can and should be part of any army's equipment but are they?

I know combat knives of other makes have been known to be carried by special forces and other elite forces. Busse knives however seem to keep a low profile.

I have no doubt about the durability and other sterling qualities of Busse knives. It's just a matter of curiosity.

It'll never happen. Sad but true.

The fact of the matter is that the mid-level functionary types that are in charge of puchasing and acquiring issue items such as a battle blade are inept, shortsighted, and have never been on an FTX much less found themselves on the business end of an enemy weapon. Odds are, most of them are probably in the dark as to which end of a knife does the cutting and poking. As a result, those yo-yos are more likely to purchase a slightly less expensive blade, with more bells and whistles, and less actual utility that they perceive as being "multi-purpose". A prime example of this is that woefully substandard piece of bladeware, the Buck/Phrobis knock off M9 bayonnet. Wire cutter on the sheath, self-sharpening blade (just resheath), saw back, no-tang, bayonnet lug adapted, peice of non-functioning crap. That's what the Army buys.:grumpy:

Oddly, similar problems exist with the manual writing process... but that's another story.

So... as I said... it'll never happen. The same system has been used forever and will likely continue. If a soldier needs/wants a real knife... he buys it.

This is why they need a Busse, afterall Jerry has made them with an "arrow" pointing towards the business end. :D

Yeah, that's what struck me funny about that pic in the first place. It's kind of like the claymore mine having "front toward enemy" written on the front of the mine casing...
