Are Cold Steels AUS8 Blades Made In Taiwan?

Hey, I just bought a Cold Steel Kobun online advertised to be the new AUS8 blade steel, but it says "Made In Taiwan" on the blade. I thought their AUS8 was made in Seki, Japan as it says on the blade of my XL Voyager tanto which I know is AUS8.

So I guess my question is, did I get duped into buying the older 420sz version or are the new ones still made in Taiwan as well? The T word really makes it look cheap IMO. I don't want to drop any names here but I don't know if I would get an honest answer from them by e-mail. Any info would be appreciated, thank you.

I don't know. Who did you buy it from? If it's a reputable dealer, you could ask him and expect a good answer.

Other knife mfgs produce AUS8 knives in Taiwan. So your knife could be both AUS8 and made in Taiwan. Not much help I'm afraid.

P.S. I know what you mean about the T word, I'd rather see Japan on a blade too.

But Made in Taiwan on a knife does not bother me the way it once did -
Benchmade, SOG, and Ontario are turning out some real good knives from there now

For instance, I bought a Benchmade Instigator just for a look-see, they're so inexpensive. And I was impressed.
Frankly, it would make very little if any difference to me if that (AUS 8) knife was made in Japan or Taiwan.

Hey thanks for the replies guys, I actually did get some help. I just didn't want to name the website since it may not even have been a problem. I will say that it was NOT 1SKS or NGK, but another company I did my first purchase from.
