Are electric sharpeners OK options? Any experience with them?

Well I think if your just gonna use it to sharpen cheaper kitchen knives I'd go for it. I have a very old knife sharpener that Basically has the same interlocking disks and it works okay but Mine is Tungsten carbide and the one you're looking at is
Diamond and ceramic.
The one thing if you do get it I would get a high grit water stone for final Finishing Because the electric sharpeners Usually leaves a bur.
Hope this helps and dont cut you're self:p

Not worth considering if you have decent or better knives and want to keep them that way.

Absolutely not worth it. Electric sharpeners are simply a quick way to ruin a perfectly good knife. Take the time and learn how to sharpen properly. You'll be glad you did.

NO NO NO NO NO , they dont really sharpen they just grind metal away and screw up a nice edge. STAY AWAY I wish knifenut would show his up close pics of what pull through sharpeners do to edges.

Those electric sharpeners with two grinding discs just DONT work. No idea, I've tried a chefmate and a presto eversharp, and they make a knife only a little less than butter knife dull. The burr won't even cut paper at all.

I think this sharpener could produces sharp and almost burr-free edge. The discs rotation (upward) yield edge-leading affect, which similar to the Tru-Hone Sharpening Machine used by Prof Verhoeven (see Appendix 3). I wish the discs were bigger and I probably would remove the cover to expose the discs for heel coverage.
