There is one thing to look out for though. The Fällkniven virus. It is contageous and it has no cure. When you buy one knife you just need to have another one and anaother one and so on. I myself have about 30 different ones. Mostly F1s though.
Yes they are worth the money and they are really not that expensive considering what you get. There is a Fällkniven for anyone from the first knife to your kids (WM1) to the most hardened spec ops guy (F2, he likes to fish when he is not specopsing). There are the kind of dull looking work knife in the F1 and S1 to the safe queen in the NL5cx.
Normally a knife company has a linear knife range. From small to large. Fällkniven has a two dimensional price range. From small to large and less and more "fancy". Lets start with the F1, you want a bigger knife, take the S1, a smaller WM1, a fancier NL5 or TK1/2, a small fancy TK5/6, bigger fancy NL4, more hunter H1, more fish F2, even more knife A1 and so on.
And getting a F1 for between 85 and 100 dollars is not expensive. Unless you are a person who drops knives high and low, then a Mora or Hultafors is the choice. They are the best value for that price. OR learn to put the knife back after you used it.
If you are on a daytrip where you know the area, you can drag along a kitchen zink if you want, it is not far from home and if it starts rain or gets boring you are home for tea and biccies in a hour, there is no NEED for a Fällkniven, but it is nice to have, you know it works and it makes you feel smart, at least you have the gear if SHTF. If you are on a three month tour in Belize you can not just go home to mum for tea and biccies if your knife breaks so you NEED something that works.
However mankind is not into getting stuff that is "enough". If so the only car on the roads would be the VW beetle. It is enough to transport four people and 100 kilos of potatoes (1936 specs). You dont NEED a three ton Hummer to do the same thing. The same goes with knifes, why buy a Mora when you can get a Fällkniven

The F1 IS actually a "survival knife" even though it lacks all those gizmoes usually seen on knives of that kind. The reason is that it is a "outdoor" survival knife, not a "combat" survival knife". It focuses on the part where you have already left your flying thing and has to wait in the forest or so until rescued. It is also at the same time a really good civilian "survival" knife. If a civilian ends up somewhere in the forest and has to survive he encounters the same obstacles as the pilot does, the elements are as dangerous no matter if Onkel Sam or Joes Pipes and Plumbing signs your paycheck.
So in short, yes the Fällkniven is worth the money. Buy it, use it, love it, buy another one, use it, love it, live the rest on the month on bark, grass and noodles

.
It gives "respect" to have a Fällkniven. Not that it is huge like Croc Dundees knife, but people who see it know that YOU are into quality. It is like wearing a fancy watch. People who know, they know. Also it is so "low profile" so they will usually pass security checks or park rangers or any other persons who might be offended with humongous combat rambo knives.
Good luck with your knife.
