Some knife websites offer knife kits. These are the DIY (do it yourself) parts of knife which an individual can assemble it himself in various sorts of ways and in the end learn something.

I wonder if this knife kit thing is a fun thing to do.

Perhaps those who have bought stuff like that can tell me of their own experiences.

Yeah they're fun to do and it gives you a greater appreciation of what it takes to finish up a knife. I've only completed one kit so far, but I keep promising myself to find the time to make some more.

Making a knife from a kit is a fun and educational project.

I've just been finishing up a Russell Green River Works "Dadley" knife which was made popular in the 19th century by trappers, traders and mountain men.

Here's a pic taken with a tomahawk to which I added some leather wrap and brass tacks for effect:

standard.

Try it. It's well worth the time and effort involved.

yes......... fun and insightful ...... makes you realize a bit more of what is involved in knife making......
NOTICE i said a bit more........ a small bit, cause this is basically just assembly...... the 'work' has already been done. But a worthwhile project none the less........... my experience anyway.....:)
