Are leaf springs a good steel for knife making

Good information. I would rephrase that as, "Are Leaf Springs an acceptable steel for knifemaking", instead of saying Good Steel. Good implies that it is better than other choices, which they are not. Your video did point out most of the concerns on using USED spiring steel.

That said, I don't think there is a smith anywhere who hasn't made a blade from a leaf spring. If you bought new 5160/9260 steel from a knife supplier, it came from a roll of leaf spring stock at some mill. One common issue with working 5160 is that it is shipped and stored in giant rolls and there can be a warp issue if not properly HTed.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with you on 1 point and that is: good does not mean better I cant think of an instance where it would but thanks for the comment.
