I'm looking at the BK16 and am really thinking about pulling the trigger, but I really don't want to unless I can get micarta scales for them (I really don't like grivory)... What do you think of them?

I think the micarta scales are worth it. As for where to get them, you're probably going to have to have them custom made or buy from someone that makes them in bulk (cheeper this way). I know where you can get some custom scales for a good price. (closer to G10 in look and feel). Send me a PM for more info.

I beleive Ka-Bar is also working on factory micarta for the tweener series if you don't mind waiting a few months

I absolutely recommend the micarta. However as poor mans fix for the grivory is stippling just like on polymer frame pistols

Yes they are.

p.s.
You can get micarta for your 16 at Saints Cutlery. I've got a set on mine & yes they are worth it.

I will also add that adding liners makes it feel very nice as well. (In addition to micarta or stippling.)

i like wood scales.. tho, after putting wood scales on my 16, i just couldn't see myself abusing that 16 so i took them off. i don't mind the factory scales for now. maybe when ka-bar comes out of micarta, i'll give that a shot. this weekend, my 16 will get plenty abuse. taking it out camping and it will be going through batoning and fire prep. i'll see if it will slice tomato after all that like ginsu knife :D
