Are PM2 scales typically this square?

Pictured is my PM2 on top of my Sage 5. Note the difference in the size of the scale chamfers. Is this typical of the PM2? Is there enough variation between Paras that it looks like I just got unlucky with an unusually squared one?

The screw heads and cut-out for the lock are so close to the scale edge that there's not much chamfering that can be done, but damn...the Sage is a pleasure to use, and the Para feels obnoxious in the hand. :/

That is what mine look like. I have mine tip up though, and in that position, they could be chamfered. It hasn't ever bothered me though

I would guess the recessed liners leaves little extra material at the corners to chamfer maybe? Does the sage have internal liners recessed into the scales too?

I prefer the newer less chamfered squared off paras by a mile. My older P2's were more so.

The scales are the reason I struggled to warm up to the PM2; but I wanted to like the knife, so I ended up going to aftermarket scales. Huge improvement, though it is a costly option (especially if you don't stop at one).

I might consider aftermarket. They say the PM is one of those designs that you have to actually use in order to "get it", and I wanted to see what I was missing. Evidently the answer is "contusions". :p It might need a trip to Golden anyway for a sticky close detent, so new scales would wait until that's decided. That's the way it goes when you order online.

I bought, then subsequently sold, 3 PM2s before making the decision to try changing the scales. I knew from the start what I didn't like about the knife...I just didn't want to risk spending the money on scales and still not liking it. Worried for nothing, as it happens, because my opinion changed almost immediately.

The only issue in my mind with scales is the cost. I just ordered some OD canvas micarta scales for mine for $79 the knife was $140 so that's $219 plus shipping on both so call it $230. The PM2 is a nice knife but you're getting into used small Sebenza territory at $230.
