the new ranger have really thin points. I just got two and was surprised. I had heard so much about them being tough camp knives but the blade looks like it thins out a lot. were they like this when justin made them?
thanks for the help

unfortunately I am using a phone and don't have a computer to load pics. if anyone owns an ontario model and the old model, are they the same thickness through out the length of the blade?

anyone here own an ontario version and one from justin?

For the most part, the Ontario versions just came out. You might have more luck contacting a dealer who has sold both in the past, I know that Brigade Quartermasters has retailed both versions - they may have the info you need.

I own 2 Ranger's made by Justin (RD-6 and 4) and they are very thick blades...no chance of breaking the tips!!!

The Ontario RDs are .25" thick at the spine, just like Justin's were. Justin's started out with fairly thick edges and a low (as in 1/2 the width) primary grind. As time went on, it evolved to full flat grind and much thinner edges. I haven't seen an Ontario RD in person, so I'm not sure if it's thinner than Justin's later efforts.
