Are Sebenza 31 blades and handles interchangeable? Switch Damascus 31 PJ handle with Inlay handle

I want to have the inlay scales with a Damascus blade on a Sebenza 31 but they aren't in dealers yet.

I currently have a 31 Large PJ handle with Boomerang Damascus and I want to get a 31 Large inlay model to swap the handles.

Are the fittings and tolerances on Sebenza's consistent enough to do this kind of swap? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks

Short answer: No.

Blades are fitted to the locks. You might however be able to swap just the show-side handles without causing any major lockup issues but I’m not sure if there would be problems regarding the fitment of the washers and stop pins.

The blades are the same but the washers are fitted. No one will advocate swapping blades, but if you’re so inclined to try swap the whole blade assembly. Washers, bushing, blade.

Ok now I'm confused....because you can no longer order JUST a damascus blade direct from CRK. If you want a damascus blade, you must order the knife with steel blade and add a damascus blade as an extra...so the blades must be interchangeable.

Perhaps the 2 interchangeable blades are unique to that specific knife?

Maybe I’m wrong when it comes to the 31 (does the ceramic ball change things?) but I was informed that blade swaps on previous models required sending the knife in so it could be fitted.

You can certainly order a knife with just a Damascus blade. You can also send a knife in and have a new blade, stainless or Damascus, fitted for that knife. You can have multiple blades that fit a particular knife.

CRK does not advertise their blades as something that can be swapped around between knives for a variety of reasons. Anyone is welcome to call or email them with questions. They are very friendly and customer focused.

Some people have reported good results swapping a blade around. The key parts are the bushing and washers. Keep those together with the blade and you’ll have a higher chance of success.

Yes, that is correct. CRK doesn’t offer the CCG’s in Damascus. In order to get a Damascus blade, you have to buy the knife with S35VN and they will install a Damascus blade on it. You wind up with two blades that fit the same knife. They are interchangeable. I did that with this knife. They sent the S35VN with the knife. Along with the blade, they also sent the washers and pivot bushing for the S35VN
