Are "seconds" worth buying?

I believe that there are knife companies that sell knives that are called "seconds" because they are not up to the mark during quality control tests.

Normally, such knives are sold at considerable discounts. Are these knives worth that small investment?

the answer is yes. Not to a collector per say, but to someone that intends on using the knife often. :)

I actually search out "Blems". They are as sound as first quality but with cosmetic discrepancies.
Good value for some fine knives

If they have cosmetic blemishes, then they can be great deals sometimes. But, often times, discounters sell "firsts" cheaper than the factory sells seconds. Every knife I own has blemishes within days of purchase.

I've noticed that too but when Cold Steel has a sale the seconds are very cheap. I got an SRK for $30.00 and 2 Recon Tantos and 2 7" Peacekeepers for $35.00 each. The big difference between my regular Recon Tanto and the second is that the point is a little blunter but still within the normal range for an Americanized tanto point.
