Is more care used in making the serial # knives?

Are they made in a different production line?

I have a serial numbered plain edge Terzoula.
It locks up tight as a drum and has a deep dark etch to the blade graphics.

On the other hand-
A comboedge Terzoula not numbered
Lock up is tight but not quite as tight as the other.
Graphics are not as dark.
G10 appears to be of a slightly different pattern.

I have heard that some of the Spydercos that are worth more than a certain amount are numbered. My Lum is, maybe all Custom collaberations are?

The first 1000 copies are numbered. The first 200 numbers go to the collectors' club. The collectors get the same number of each knife. Mine are #68.

My Al handled C15 is numbered 3242, so it appears that some models are numbered higher than 1000. Who knows why?

As to quality, none of the handle components line up perfectly, the spacer is roughly finished and was fitted in such a way as to allow the edge to cut a groove into it, which may explain why the knife was fairly dull when I bought it. The grooves on the thumbrest are also quite shoddy. Doesn't change the fact that it's my favourite knife, though. This quality is compared to my un-numbered Almite Navigator whose fit and finish and edge were all pefect at half the price! (My second favourite)

Little Claw - The C15 was our first US made piece. We learned quite a bit building this model.

(It was also the 1stt US made production liner lock {with Michaels Walker's ball bearing detent), the 1st, US made ATS-34, Spyderco's 1st collaboration, 1st production G-10 knife).

We're still working out the best way to handle numbers. As Brian said, the first 200 go to collectors. Usually, the first 1,000 of a collaboration are numbered.

no difference in the way they're made (not intentionally).
