Are single edge push knives legal in NYC? I found some posts on this and they are real old. I am referring to the single edge, under 4" types. It doesn't seem to fit the term dagger, or does it? What if you had it while hunting or fishing?

It may not be a dagger but it could still be considered a "dangerous knife" under state code § 265.01 because of its general reputation as a combat knife. Remember, you have to follow both state and NYC law at the same time. NYC just prohibits open carry and any carry of a blade over 4".

That's what I was afraid of.

There are two gutting/skinning knives out there by a well known co. that I want. But because of the handle, they look like push knives. Oh well.

Thanks

Not too sure but I'd definitely not carry that!

No, definitely not for EDC. I was looking at some that are specifically sold as hunters and would only be carried in my gear bag while hunting. One has the gut hook and the other is plain. I would say the brand but not sure I am allowed to here?
