Are skeletonized tangs Andy's standard? Even when the tangs are tapered, are they still skeletonized?

I'm sure this has been answered, but I didn't want to scuba dive through the oceans of threads.

Thanks,
Duder

Yes and yes. I believe everything is skeletonized now.

Thanks. My daughter has a Dr. Appt. for her broken leg (hopefully the cast comes off, fingers crossed). I think I'm gonna take a skeletonized tang and a full tang to have them x-rayed. I wanna see what's behind the scales.

Joe - I saw a thread not too long ago where Andy mentioned both Full and Tapered Tang knives blades were skeletonized. There is also a considerable weight difference between SFT and tapered tangs, even when skeletonized, the full tang is still much heavier than tapered blades.

We skeletonize all the blade handles the same way when they are full thickness. This includes the pin and thong holes, plus another 2 - 4 lightening holes depending on the size of the handle. Then, Andy comes and picks at random which ones he's going to taper. So, yes, they all start out the same and the tapered ones get that much lighter in the end.
