i'm looking at buying one of boker fighting knives. just because i've got some money to throw around. i don't know if they're any good, or if they're worth the money. i'm assuming, if there as good as my speed-lock it might be worth buying! if you guys could give me some info on them pro's, con's either would be really helpfull

thanks much jake

While I think that the Speedlock is pretty crappy, the A/F's quality is quite high. Decent steel and of course a very good design.

Jake! Take it from me, it wouldn't be no good as a usin' knife, not unless you've somethin' to skin and prod like in the barn or somethin'? Seriously, if you're game on it, just go for it dude! Your freedom of choice. It's a freeland with some seriously heavy consequence if you cross the line, that is.

Also take heed that you can't never take it anywhere with you. Except, to and from the kitchen or in or out of that drawer/shelf. If that's worth paying good money for? Dude, you have indeed picked the right one to blow it on!

Other than that, I love my A/F more than a Speedlock, I think.

Just my 2 cents.

hey thanks for the input, your right it's not really practical and i could spend my money some were else like a new folder, a spyder co. perhaps or an al mar...

Personally, I would chose virtually anything else from a decent American, European or Japanese company over Böker.

Why? Have you had a bad experience?

i have one, its well made, perfect grind lines, well balanced, but it is useless for any sporting or utility use.unless you want to cut rope to tie up newspapers or open letters,it was really designed for one thing;stabbing, just like all daggers.i like it because of the history behind it,otherwise it sits & does nothing. your better off getting a nice folder for 100.00 instead.........

Yes. I owned only one, a TopLock. Crappy, soft steel, bad lockup, sloppy craftmanship. I traded it for a glass of scotch and a box of cigars. That was one awesome deal. The guy who got it also traded it, but he only received five beers for the knife. No news since, but I suspect that the third owner could only trade it for a smoke. :D

Anyway I examined several Böker folder in various knifeshops, and none of them were perfect. All had problems with their lockup, grind lines or both. Overpriced junk, only marginally better than Herbertz, nuff said. :barf: Also Böker tends to use inferior steel even in their fixed blades. The only Böker I may buy is their Orca model, but they are several better fixed blades for that price.
