Are the handle on Cold Steel Magnum Tanto supposed to be able to unscrew?

I got one of these lovely thing recently and i tried unscrewing the pommel a minute ago with a screwdriver, ironically, and it would not move, i put quite a lot of rotating force in the hole to both directions, had the knife stuck in a bow target

I saw a pic of a unscrewed Tai Pan before that and i assumed it would be as easy to do as my SOG bowie...

The pommel was definitely able to unscrew at one time (if you look at old catalogs they actually show the threaded portion in the Tanto cutaway), and wouldn't think they'd change that design feature, but not sure. Maybe they started adding LocTite?

The design hasn't changed, it may be just more LocTite is being used in assembly.
Thanks for the heads up. I'l look into this

It's probably an interference fit thread. I'd clamp the blade in a padded vice and use a rod about 1-2 feet in length.

Sounds like a great way to snap the tang nut/final off.

Why are you wanting to remove it?

If replacing the rubber handle is the goal, you might try heating the final/nut up. It it is lock-tighted up, and stuck, lock tight can be softened with heat. But the heat may damage the krayton handle.
