Are the handle slabs epoxied on the straight handle series?

I am considering rehandling my straight handle Battle Mistress. I think I would prefer thicker slabs. My question is, are the slabs epoxied on? Or, can I just unscrew the bolts and take the slabs off?

This was brought up once last year if memory serves, and I believe the answer was yes they are secured both with epoxy under the slabs and handle fasteners. However if you're going to rehandle I guess it doesn't matter if the current slabs are destroyed.

I remember along the lines that DN does, but I remember that the slabs can indeed be removed intact. IIRC, you're supposed to soak the handle in something before hand. I think skunk did it?

I think I remember that too. Something like boil and freeze a few times, but I'm sure he will be along to tell us all.

Some were. . . and some weren't. If it's coated, then probably not.
