Are the Leek blades interchangable?

I was just thinking, I'd like an S30V leek (far better than the 440A in the normal Leeks), but I'd prefer the strength of a framelock. It occurs to me, could I get a S30V/G10 Leek (linerlock) and swap the blade with a framelock (like the rainbow or black/gold one)? The framelock ones are thinner too, which is nice.

I don't know for certain, but I see no reason why they'd change the blade profile and/or tang configuration "between" models.

That was my assumption as well. Easier to make a linerlock around the existing blade rather than make a whole new knife.

I'd been wanting to do something similar. I like the framelock a lot. I'm not sure why Kershaw didn't just swap out blade steels. No need to fix a design that isn't broken.

yea, i was thinkin of the same thing when im ready to drop for a couple s30v's

i was thinkin of just swapin in the frame lock and leaving in the top g10 scale/liner.

get some strider rip-off action goin:p

they diddnt really fix anything, they had scaled linerlock versions a while ago.

i guess they are just jumpin on the whole g10 and s30v thing.
as i said, it would sorta be rippin of strider to do the g10 framelock thing.

Thats a sweet idea! S30V, framelock, G10 Leek?

So whats up Thomas, is this possible?

It is entirely possible to switch out the blades on the different versions of the leek, HOWEVER its is a major pain to try to put a leek back together again.
trust me.

I've taken blades of different Kershaw Blurs & changed between them. I think it might be possible to interchange Leek blades too; the hole for the spring is got to be in the same place in the two models, i guess; it doesn't matter if it's a linerlock or a framelock. If you succeed doing this, i hope to hear from you (& you're welcome to post some pics of the "experiment").

i have taken one apart before to clean it.

just remember to keep the blade open when you put it back togeather otherwise you have to force the torsion bar back into place with your fingers, i think you would have to be the incredible hulk to do this as i was trying for 20 mins before i realised just to open the blade.

Any Leek blade will work in any Leek handle configuration. Have fun with it.

Thanks Tim. Looks like in a paycheck or two I'll getting a couple new Leeks.

Because that would be revising a model, and they'd rather come out with new models? duh?
It's not revising a model, just getting a choice of blade for a better knife, in my opinion, duh! Read the thread after mine! Last CRKT I had was an M16 that I gave away. I would get a leek framelock in S30V !:D
