Are the new Nalgene Tritan bottles as good as the old BPA ones ???

I'm thinking about getting one of the 48oz bottles to use in addition to my Guyot for those hot long trips where water is not easy to find but I heard the new tritan bottles may not be as sturdy as the old ones and I don't want to get something if it's going to break on me when I need it. I've got 3-4 of the old bpa bottles and 4 of the old hdpe bottles that I picked up on super sale but i'm really wanting the extra capacity of the large one. Is it worth it or should I look elsewhere.

I have used several Nalgene Tritan bottels over the last two years and I had no trouble so far.

I have a mess of them, including several of the 48 oz bottles. They are great. They will explode when you drop a full one from the top of a three story abandoned building onto the concrete below. Whoops. ;)

But they really are great. No issues whatsoever.

they are good, no plastic taste even when left in a hot car. won't make you grow feminen parts like the BPA either:D

Soooo two stories or less and they'll be fine good to know ;)

The Tritan ones are ok and should handle light abuse. They won't survive heavy abuse like the old polycarbonate bottles.

I don't know what heavy abuse would be for a plastic water bottle, BPA-Free or not, but literally the day the new Tritan bottles became available, I ordered two. My wife and I each carry one every day along with our lunch. I don't know how many years of daily use that is, but it's a lot and they have held up very well. I've dropped mine on concrete, tile, asphalt, etc. and other than some minor scuffs and scratches, they're good to go. No plastic taste here either and I live in an insanely hot/humid environment.

I suppose if I had my choice, I'd go with a stainless steel bottle but I didn't and I'm fine with these. I actually just picked up another one, the 48oz size and now carry it and my 32oz to work (I drink a lot of water). I'm looking forward to having it on camping trips.

Also, in all of the many years I've used Nalgene bottles daily, the only thing I've ever had fail is the leash on one cap. It just wore out and cracked. I also washed it on the bottom rack of my dishwasher every day for years and years before it went. The funny thing is, the other one which was bought at the same time and used the same amount is still in great shape.
