I know there have been a lot of topics, discussion, videos on this over the years but I've seen some hints they got better a few years back. Is there any confirmation to this?
If you drag the blade edge against the sheath , it will eventually become dull . If you rather keep the edge from contact with the sheath while drawing and sheathing , I don't think it's a problem . Others will disagree , but it works for me !
I have the SK5 SRK and Recon Tanto.
Both sheaths dull the edges no matter how I draw the knives.
I have a complete set of the Drop-Forged models.
None of their sheaths affect the edges.
The DF pieces are sharper than any CS models I've purchased since the late '90's so I'm pleased that their sheaths are well fitted.
I'll be forced to replace the SRK and RS sheaths. Resharpening isn't a problem but if the sheath is going to ruin a fresh edge I'm fighting a losing battle. Doesn't dampen my opinion of CS but I wish all their sheaths fit like the DF series.
The DF models may be my all-time favorite CS knives and I own or have owned dozens of their pieces.
I really hope they make one in the SRK size range eventually.
