I'm wanting to buy another USMC and i see that there are definitely clones of them. All the for sure clones I'm seeing though say Kabar USMC "styled" knife so they're selling them as cloned knives without the Kabar logo. Are there USMC's that are cloned that have the Kabar logo on them that are hard to tell between the real deal? They seem to very so much in price from place to place and I believe that they make different styles of them so I don't know what to think. Is there a dealer on BF with genuine Usmc's that somebody could send me a link too also? Thanks.

Not absolutely sure, but I imagine there probably are clones with the Ka-Bar logo. Any BF supporting dealer who stocks KA-BAR could be trusted for a real one. Knifecenter, Blade HQ, etc.

First, you must remember that Kabar is a brand, not a style. When most non-knifeknuts refer to a "kabar", they are refering to the 1219C2/USN-MK2 Fighting/Utility knife of WW2 fame. The design is in the public record (free to be used by anyone), well known and popular, and has been made by everyone and their dog since WW2 ended. The kabar name got tagged to this knife by WW2 Marines because, well, kabar sounds more manly and was easier to say than the other manufacturers names. I mean, really, would you rather say "This is my kabar" or "This is my robeson-suredge" or "This is rh37 pal" or This is my camillus."? Not knocking any of the companies, but put yourself in a young Marine's shoes. :D

Since non-kabar companies can't honestly say their knives are "kabars", they resort to what I call "similarity marketing".

There have been a few counterfeit kabars out there, but most have been of other styles, e.g., some beckers, the cutlass machete, etc. And Kabar tries to stomp on those as they find them.

"THIS IS MY KA-BAR, THERE ARE MANY LIKE IT BUT THIS ONE IS MINE!"

Counterfeit KA-BAR's are a huge problem. By counterfeit, I mean they bear the KA-BAR name, but are not in fact made by us. There are several companies that make a similar product as has already been mentioned. Your best bet is to buy from a reputable source. If you are thinking you will save a few bucks and buy a counterfeit, trust me, it is not worth it. I have come across many of these over the years and they are just plain terrible products: poor materials, poor assembly, no attention to detail, and nothing to stand behind the product if(and I mean when) something goes inevitably goes wrong. I am a big believer in buying an item once. With KA-BAR, you always have the warranty behind you if you ever need it.

Thanks for all the responses and Kabar for confirming. I buy a lot of knives from the bay but I'm gonna pass buying a USMC from there just because you don't really know what your going to get. Lots of other companies like spyderco and Fallkniven I won't buy off the bay anymore either since almost getting burned by clones. Buying from a dealer here or direct from the factory.
