Just asking for your opinion.

Are there more threads now where people ask about hard use elephant killing knives they can stab trough solid rock? Or have there always been many of those threads?

You've never had to stab through a rock to kill an elephant behind it? Where are you from?

Im a wuss, I don't stab through the rock that could dull your edge. Use your pommel shatter the rock into pebbles then stab the elephant, and use the sheath as a cutting board while you fillet the shanks:D

That's just crazy! Shatter the rock, scare away the elephant. Stealth and super hardcore use knives go hand in hand. If your knives dull on rock then they are not "hard use" enough. I sharpen rocks on my hard use blades.

Well if you need to shatter the rock before stabbing the elefant, you really need a hard use knife so you can just stab trough it .

You're not supposed to STAB through the rock, you're supposed to BATON through it. :D

I heard a mercenary/ high speed low drag operator and his sniper buddy designed just the knife for that situation...

Actually, I've been thinking there's been a lull in those threads. And I'm not joking.

I think they keep up with demand.
Every time a new " hard use " thread pops up, so does another " hard use " knife.

Nope...shark stabbing knives is where it's at. :)

"Hard Use", "Survival", "SHTF"...people have been asking about these things for a very long time.

There may be a tad more these days though, with batonning somehow having become a major criteria (I blame YouTube ;)).

What I wish we'd see more of are "how do I use my knife hard without breaking it" threads. A knife, like most hand tools, is skills-based in its purest form. The more you place an emphasis on making it indestructible over its ability to cut the less skill is required. For many that's actually viewed as a positive.
