Are there only a few numbered Chinook II's around?

Well, I got a Chinook II last year, it has the # 157V next to the blade hole. I had noticed that some other models on E Bay and such do not have any ##, nor mention of one. If that is an actual production ##, how many did they number?

This question isn't new ;) : Spyderco has a collectors club and each member gets his "personal" knife with his number. The main piece (often with serrated edge) has the number only without "V". "V" = variation of the model. In this case this was a Chinook of collector number 157 and the variation too.

Congrets for your Chinook II :)

I was reading up on the Collector's club. I didnt think that applied to my knife. So basically, I have a knife that is supposed to be for whomever #157 is? It was NIB when I got it...

That knife was made for collector #157. He must not have wanted it for some reason and either never picked it up or sold it off at some point.

I wish I was a member of the collector's club. I wonder how much that costs a year.

Hell, I couldve had #043!! I got the higher ## cause I had planned on using it. But, I have decided on not using mine. I only used it once to eat dinner. The guy @ the knife shop did not know that the ## were for the individual collector. He just thought they were serial ## like any other limited edition more or less. I guess in the end all that means is that I have somebody else's knife. It is not worth more than any other Chinook since it isn't "My" collector ##. Heck, maybe I could get on the Spyderco forum on the website, find the guy, and see if he wants to buy it from me. I threw the box away though.
