I searched and searched and can't find anything worth anything...

As usual, you guys are the only ones I can ever depend on [snif].:(

Is there such a thing as a car-dealer review site where I can check out peoples' experiences with used car dealers near me?

.

Let’s see if we can find the right forum …

Sorry, I didn't realize a car dealer was a Gadget and Gear.

I try to get it right. Really.

Check with your local BBB. One problem with used car dealers is that they tend to go out of business quickly. Actually, what they do is just change name. But, it still makes any feedback situation difficult. Stick to dealers who have been in business under the same name for several years and who are BBB members.

The best place to buy a used car is at a factory-authorized new-car dealer. The prices will be a little bit higher and the merchandise will be only a few years old at most, but these guys tend to do used cars very well because they don't want problems in their used business jeopardizing their new business. They get a lot of trade-ins which they evaluate and skim the cream off of. Any that have any issues get sold to used car dealers. So, the best used cars tend to be at new car dealers.

Good stuff. Thanks.

I and many friends have all had GREAT experience with CarMax. Similar to above, they are setting up a reputation and can't afford to mess it up. Don't go there expecting to kick the tires and hem and haw about it. Know what you want, take it for a drive and see if they'll give you a price you're happy with. Not the way we used to buy used cars!

Check out their web site for what you're looking for that's in your area, that's pretty much all they do once you're there.

There is a site called Angies List for mechanics, try Car Talk's website, they might have a link for "reputable" (I think you're screwed here) used car salesmen.

Your best bet is probably to announce that you're in search of a used car dealer in Denver.

Sorry, I haven't shopped up there much. North of Denver was a BMW dealer in with a good used selection, and I didn't get any bad vibes from them.

Wife and I have both had positive experiences buying used in Colorado Springs.

You can also check the Complaints.com web site and search for a specific dealer. It is a database of consumer complaints about all types of things.
