Are thes Kind of Knives legal in canada?

Welcome to Bladeforums.

We would prefer you find another reference for this. We don't allow links to live auctions.
We have a list of authorized dealers who support Bladeforums. eBay does not.

Actual manufacturer links are allowed but you aren't going to find a manufacturer website for this. Both Benchmade and I believe Spartan Blades have almost identical designs. Much more expensive of course.

As long as it's not opened with centrifugal force (just a wrist flick) or gravity (blade will fall out) or by pressing a button on the handle (autos) and you are not carrying it for self-defence purposes then it is legal. These are the only restrictions for knives in Canada. Would be hard to convince a cop that you're carrying it for anything but self-defence though IMHO. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Here you go, the Benchmade version.

Thanks as far as i know it dosent open this way and im not planning on carrying anywere near a cop or usingh it for self defence, considerng were i live there are hardly any.

Well I don't see any reason it would be illegal to own, but a cop might give you shit about it. Hopefully its gimmicky enough for them not to care though. Sometimes I wonder if being a knife guy is an advantage when it comes to getting stopped by the police. Like "hey man, I'm not a criminal I'm just way too into knives. See all this other shit I'm carrying?" Its more of a justification than a cop just stopped you and you only had one big knife.

As long as it doesn't open in the ways I was saying earlier, then yes. The rest is about intent/how persuasive you are.

So I just googled the knife, and a lot of stores call it a butterfly knife, even though it is not really. Butterfly knives are illegal (the name means it can be opened by centrifugal force) in Canada, and if that's what it is called by the seller then you might have problems. Contact Canadian customs to clarify.

Bad enough that a folder lock can fail and whack a finger, possibly take it off, but TWO sides? I've seen this thing, it's from Tomahawk or some Chinese maker. Steer clear of this, it's unreliable.

hey i was wondering if the brous blades silent soldier v1 or v2 are legal to ship in to canada and are legal in canada this would be a big help to me if anyone knew the answer

Not sure about carrying but since its just a fixed blade I don't see why you wouldn't be able to own it.

Elliot: As long as you can't fit four fingers in, you should be fine, since if you could it would be a knuckle duster.
Xneo: since that one can probably be flicked, I would say it would be a no-go. I would contact the seller, and ask if they have shipped to canada before, but they may well not be truthful. If it has butterfly knife anywhere on it when they ship it, it will be seized if they look at it. You can try it if you are willing to loose the cash. Otherwise, describe what you are looking for, and maybe someone can point you towards a similar knife.
J1427: butterfly knife is defined by having the blade hidden in a split handle. the only way around this is a "paratrooper" style knife that has a linkage that keeps the handles from swinging freely. the cetrifical force opening is kinda secondary to the situation, but they are described separately in the act.
