I owned one for a while. They do a pretty good job of putting an edge on a knife, if that's all you need. I'll disagree with what they say about them "quickly restoring a nicked or chipped blade". With the standard wheels, they're not that powerful. You can get coarser wheels, but changing them during a job isn't practical. There's one guy around that uses them for a business, but he has three machines set up with different wheels.
The other concern is, it is very easy to start a recurve in the blade, and once it starts, unless you use something else to take it out, it will only get worse.
I read that the wheels can wear quickly, but I ended up selling mine before I got that far. I wanted something more versatile. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have, like I said, you can edge a knife in very little time, especially standard, maybe low end kitchen knives. But, in my opinion, not much more than that.
