Are these Kosher?

Well Brian, I am no expert by any means but I do believe that the old big one is the real thing. The other one just doesn't sit right with me. First, it looks like the 10th Gurka Rifles insignia engraved at the top of the dap but if I'm not mistaken the colors of the 10th were black not blue. I think that blue was the color of the 6th GR but don't quote me on that one. Another thing is that the knife itself is nothing special but that doesn't mean anything either since it was not uncommon for the actual service khuk to be given the fancy scabbard and no extra work was done on the khuk itself. I think John Powell would be the one to ask but then, who knows, he may be bidding on both the khuks and I bet he won't tell anyone if he is. To be honest, I'm considering putting in a bid on the old one myself.

Not Kosher...there's no way to tell how the knives have been used, but a Rabbi could perform a cleansing on them and put them right back to Kosher if you wanted to.

:D :) ;)

The only Kosher khukuris are those made by Kumar at HI. His star of David symbol is proof of this "inside information"... :D

Dan :)

"hongkongarrison" continually sells "Gurkha" items that I believe are a mix of remnants from the Regimnetal HQ days plus a lot of new stuff like this kothimora being offered.

The other kukri is a low end, but authentic 20thc piece with a homemade frog.
