Are these Remingtons made by Camillus?

I found an old sportings goods store off the beaten path this week and found some treasures!
Two Western WW766 fillet knives and three Remington bulet knives. Also a couple Schrades.

My question is; are these Remingtons made by Camillus?
I am pretty sure they are, but I don't know a lot about Remingtons.

I thought Tom or Phil would know who made them, but I am sure there are several others here who would know as well.

Thank you,
Dale

I'm no expert but they look like they could be the new made in China models. Do they have Made In The U.S.A. stamped on the blade(s)?

The tang on the black Delrin handled trapper says:
REMINGTON/UMC in a circle with MADE IN U.S.A. around it. – see pic-

The two knives with yellow & red Delrin handles say:
REMINGTON MADISON N.C. USA inside a circle with bullet through it. – see pic-
These two knives also come with the following paper that says explains the new tang stamp and says plainly at the bottom, “Made in the U.S.A.” –see third pic-

Unless china has gone to new lengths of deception and out right lying, I doubt they are made in China.

I suspect Camillus or perhaps some other US manufacturer, made these.
But, I don't know when they changed to the new tang stamp.
Does anyone know?

Dale

I have a duplicate of the redtinted trapper, it was made by Camillus as well as the other two I believe.
I am still trying to figure out why they thought the "unfinished" redtint was a selling point. Out right ugly IMHO.

The paperwork you posted shows those are Camillus. Only Camillus used 0170-6C steel.

Dale, Remington moved the headquarters to Madison in 1996, so I suspect the new tang stamp appeared shortly after.

Thanks guys!
I appreciate the help.

1996 puts those a bit older than I thought, but the store had been in business under the same owner for the last 35 years according to the clerk.
Probably a lot of great knives have passed though those doors!
The two Western fillet knives (WW766) I got there were introduced in 1997 and were gone from the price lists by 2004. I guess it is possible that they sat there for several years. The Uncle Henry I got there was discontinued in 1988.
I have been into this store several times over the last 13 years, but I have not looked for knives there before.
It looked like they had built a new display for knives and there were more knives there than I had seen before.

Thanks again for the info,
Dale

Thanks Phil and thanks to all you who replied.:thumbup:
They sure looked like Camillus to me ("Read the Knife"- BL).

orvet, the WW766 was a Camillus Western. I believe that after Western was bought by Camillus they used the two Ws and dropped the letter/year stamp.

Western used a simple code to identify the handle type. W-wood, R-rubber, L-leather Etc. After they were sold to Camillus, Camillus added the W for Western.

I will verify that they were made By Camillus Cutlery for Remington. I purchased hundreds of them right from the warehouse.
