Are these spacers?

You may have to zoom in to see them clearly. They show better on the red than the green but both show better in person.
 
I don't think so...When they finished the shaping and machining they smooth sanded the edges with fine grit sanding belt and buffed the edge the heat seals it to that extra smooth finish.
 
Looks like a non-beveled section of handle material. But it’s really deceptive in the red/black picture.
 
Green handle seems to be 1 piece g10 with no spacer. There a 7 black line vs 6 black line per side for red. Seems like the red black g10 was thinner hence they added a spacer

No spacers, just different levels of smoothness from sanding as already mentioned. The chance of liners being exactly the same color as a different batch of multi colored G10 is very slim and last I knew Busse's red liners were red, not maroon. ;)
