I want to replace the single sided thumb stud on my Buck/Strider 881 with a dual thumb stud. But i'm having trouble finding a place where i can just buy thumb studs. I was going to buy an inexpensive folder and just steal the thumb stud off of that but now i'm wondering if they are universal or should i be looking for a particular size?

I nerver tried to remove one so I dont know how well the factory studs come off but the e-z studs that are installed with a set screw work real well and are always available on the bay.

the 110 2nd from the left has an E-Z stud installed for about 2 months and not loosened up or or needed adjusted since.

Ima, So, you like to carry a 3 dot FG . Good choice . DM

Yes I do David, I got it from a fellow forumer who had well used it and didnt need it anymore. I got it with the stipulation it would remain a user. Far be it from me to break trist. The stud works very well, the knife has a decent amount of blade loss from years of use and sharpening but it can still crow with any roosters in the yard:thumbup: I'm told the fingergrooves were a buck employee addition after the fact. They are just right:)

usaknifemaker.com sells thumbstuds, I think in different sizes. The hard part would definitely be getting the old one out if you don't see a screw head.
