Are transparent .png avatars not possible?

Seems I'm having a little trouble updating my avatar using a .png with a transparent background. It's below the 40k size limit, and while I feel like I've seen other members using transparent background avatars... maybe they are just matching the forum bg color?

Any insight would be appreciated :)

If you do that we could see into the next thread.

As it is, it shows up a shade lighter gray than the gray of the DEFAULT GRAY 2.2 I use as my screen color. Looks great.

Thanks Ray, I'm seeing the difference too. Trying to get it to only show the black cross without the white/gray circle around it but no luck so far (even though the .png I uploaded is indeed transparent). Could have sworn I've seen others with avatars/logo's that blend seamlessly into the background but maybe I didn't!

S Sharp Steel Well the .PNG format definitely supports transparency, I've tried the .jpg format but it didn't carry the transparency and I just ended up with a white background.

Hehe, thanks again RayseM RayseM , it's weird because my original avatar that you dragged and dropped/re-uploaded saved to my desktop transparent as well (I've triple checked, and I am indeed uploading a properly formatted transparent .png)... it just doesn't seem to be carrying over to this impregnable circle avatar area for whatever reason.

Who knows, might not be possible at all.

Suppose I could color swatch the forums default theme and just match the background it so it appears to be transparent, but if someone is using a different color scheme I'm back to the unshakeable circle!
