Are victorinox hardwood knives treated?

I just acquired a hardwood spartan and it feels like the wood scales are unfinished, like they aren't sealed or treated. I don't want them to stain if I handle it with oily or greasy hands, so was thinking of sanding them nice and smooth and then applying several coats of polyurethane to seal the wood.

does anyone know if victorinox puts anything on the wood?

I know wenger stains there wood to give each one a different grain pattern. I'm not sure about Victorinox but I would think it you added a few coats of linseed oil and let dry between each that would protect the handles perfect.

I received one as well and now you have me thinking. I think tung oil would be a good option.

I had the same idea when I recieved my Hardwood Spartan.

If they treated the wood with anything, then I can't detect it.
I recommend danish oil to protect the wooden surface from environmental influences

Is that pic before or after the oil? Curious how much it will darken the wood. Not sure whether to go searching for Danish or tung oil now or stick to the polyurethane.
