Really think about it and ask yourself "Are We Doing Our Part" to promote the Hobby/Obsession we share? How often do you get to "Talk Knives" with someone. Luckily for me I work in a place where there is a regular flow of people to talk with about all types of things. When they seem interested always try to bring up the Subject of Custom Knives.
Really there is a broad host of topics for conversation starters like: Art, Function, Metalurgy, Science, Tools, Careers, Self Defense, Offense, Cooking, Hunting, LEO, Military, Firefighters, EMT's, Chefs, Doctors everyone I know uses a Knife on a Daily basis.
Marketing trends now are leaning towards One to One interaction although it may be on a Mass basis.
IE: Facebook, Skype, Twitter and especially some of the awesome Outdoor and Indoor forums on the web.

Can you tell Knives are my main interest after family!
So next time you are presented with the opportunity to "Talk Knives" do it.
Who else can you think of to talk too about our Hobby?

Good points. We should all try to do our part if and when we can.

One thing i was thinking about just today was that almost everything around us was cut at some time in some way to make it into what it is. Lathes cut, drills cut etc etc. So the knife is the square root of all that, so to speak, and we owe alot and depend alot on cutting. So maybe we can tell the sheeple something like that when they are "bahhing".

I would love to,but i live in Calgary Alberta, about 95% of all people i've got to talk to believe any knife's sole purpose is to kill except a kitchen knife because as we all know they are dull and go soft on contact with flesh...The remaining 5% are gun nuts, some friends that collect knives and some guys i did MMA with(note some).

I try to show and talk about the knives I carry, to almost everyone I know. But, most of them have no more than a passing interest in them and when I tell them how much they cost they look at me like I'm a nut!:o

I make it a game at work... Guess how much this one costs! I get the same reaction a lot of the time, but a few people understand that quality does not come cheap. I also end up selling a lot of knives to the guys at work for waaay less than I paid for them, and it is nice hearing "I never realized how useful a knife is, especially a sharp one"
