Man, as many brand new 307's that are hitting the market lately are we SURE that Buck isn't producing them anymore. There just seems to be an almost endless supply of new in the box ones for sale.

I wonder where they were hidden these last few years??

Well, they discontinued the 120 about 2004 and new ones with later year marks continue to show up.

Apparently if you order a bunch of them, Buck will crank them out.

I don't know if they do that with slippies, though.

Dave and all,

Buck NEVER had 307 tooling. Buck never made a 307 only altered them once in a while.
Camillus assembled lots of left over Buck parts (Cami owned them) and sold them as knives at end of the road factory close-down sale. I.E. Notice that they are in boxes about 3 or 4 versions back. The 307 even had some attention on the Traditional Fourm, just before the threads started here.

Haven't you guys noticed that the more we talk about a particular model, especially if it goes on for a couple of weeks, that they start showing up on ebay. Especially, when the folks say, "I am gonna get me one of those." I have seen it over and over on the knives I don't collect also. Just wait, a couple of look-a-likes to Dave's unusal 110 will show up now........

I am starting to believe, I may be my own worst enemy.

I have noticed that Craig, and I am convinced bay sellers troll this and other sites to see what is in demand. It is driving up prices. I have been accumulating under 3 years and even as a tenderfoot that fact recently has hit me right in the nads. It cant be coincidence:(

:D What I said about "are we sure they aren't still making them" was said tongue in cheek. I'm aware (thanks to your educating us ) that Buck doesn't have and never did have the tooling for the 307.

It's just a wonder to me that so many new ones keep surfacing for sale. Somewhere there must have been quite a stock of them put away.

I've noticed that the new 307's are selling for less now than they were sometime back. The first one I bought was close to $50. The last two were $40 each delivered to me. The latest I've noticed are at the $40 price with about $4 shipping. All in all, a great deal I think.

Who's got the Camillus tooling?

Maybe it's in China.

I suppose if these knives continue to multiply like rabbits.....nobody will want them at any price.

:D

:D

Not TOO long ago, after Camillus closed the doors forever, all the contents of the factory were auctioned/sold off.

I don't recall how long ago it was, but there was a story about it in Blade or Knife World.

Sellers are showing lots of 10 and more:eek: Like BG42Edge said...They are multiplying like rabbits!

Chris D. :D

Maybe they're multiplying like perfect Chinese counterfeit rabbits.

:eek::eek::eek:

On the other hand......if made with the Camillus tooling......would they be counterfeits or repros or .......?

It would be interesting to trace where the Camillus tooling finally ended up.

I suppose once the tooling got to China, the genie was out of the bottle.

The old Buck tang stampers were probably included.

Not difficult to make up a new bunch of Buck 307s with the old equipment.

And any other knife Camillus used to make for Buck, for that matter.

Ok 42,

You want me to go over to the Camillus forum and ask about tooling or do you want to ?

:D Maybe we should just get Jesse Ventura involved. He's great on conspiracies! He'll root out the answer and see if the "China Syndrome" has any validity! ;)

Well, ACME got the slippy tooling and must have sent it to China, since they are now producing Camillus knives from China.

Thus come a zillion 307s.

;)

I hear Bear and Sons got some tooling, hard to say how much.

Maybe some of the detectives can find some clues here.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497137&highlight=tooling

Several buyers of tooling and tang stamps are mentioned, but I didn't see any reference to Buck.

Seems that portions of this stuff could have made their way almost anyplace by now.....even, say.........China?

;)

Seriously, maybe Tom Williams would know offhand where the Buck stamps and any dedicated Buck equipment might have gone.
