I think I fall into the Knife Accumulator category. I have been looking for THE knife for my needs and tastes. WOW what a slippery slope that is! Someone here has on their Signature line something like "the quest for the perfect knife is long and hazardous (and expensive!), so it's best to take along a Busse"

That fits me pretty well, only I still like and appreciate most of the, not quite perfect, knives and so I can't quite make myself part with them. Thus, they accumulate! But they are for me the history of my quest for the perfect knife. They also reminnd me how my needs and tastes have developed and changed during the coarse of this quest. Oh, and also forked. I initally was only looking for my perfect folder, now I am also looking for the perfect fixed carry blade, the perfect large fighter, the perfect bowie, the perfect utility carry knife, the perfect large user, abuser for the truck etc, etc, etc...

Hunter:
That fits me to a T. My closet and drawers are filled with the accumulated knives that I have bought over time. There are the beginners knives like the Bucks and the Cold Steels. The knives that I got when I did not know as much as I do know. In that quest for the perfect knife there are the Chris Reeves, the Mad Dogs. My Busses pretty much take first place, but then most of the people who read these threads have that same attitude. Hands down they are my favorites. My Mean Street stays in my briefcase, and there is a BM under my truck seat.
As we all await the Busse folder, I did buy what is probably the worlds most bulletproof folder on the market today...the Strider AR, and oh is it sweet. It will remain my primary folder carry until a Busse folder comes our way. Most everyone in this particular forum are Busseholics, and I am certainly one of them, but guys....if you like Busses, you will love this Strider AR. It is pretty nuclear. Will I buy the Busse folder....of course!.....I will be in line for it. Until then as the saying goes....the quest is long, and I will bring my Busses along...

Strictly a user. I get rid of anything that's not being used, unless they were a gift, or are just too beat up to sell/trade (those I abuse until they die, and throw in the trash:)).
I've got 18 knives, from keychain SAK to machete. Two of them were gifts, three of them are small SAKs, and three others are beaters.

I'd say I fall into the User / Accumulator category.

I have some knives that are used hard, and some that are used hardly at all...;) I buy 'em, then I use 'em until something I like better comes along. Some of those that get replaced stick around, some of them go to a buddy or two, occasionally I just wear one out (like my last edc folder.)

I have always made an effort to buy things I know I would use. My knives have all been used well as have all my firearms, etc.
BUT!;), since discovering Busses I have noticed some accumulation occuring:D

well, my name is Marc and I am a (Busse) Collector.

There, I said it. I use my knives, but using a BM or a straight handled SH is somewhat overkill on an envelope.

But have you ever gotten a paper cut? Ouch!

I fall in the User and Collector category.

Generally I've got a handful of Busses that I use and a much larger handful that seem to be happy just waiting their turn ;):D:D

:D I am an accumulator, almost half of the knives I own are Busse Knives.
I prefer Older, used, Busse knives because I like to test each knife as it comes along and see how it compares in use, to the others.
The most controllable knife for its size is I think the BA-E.
The one with the most penetration thrown is the Mean Street
The most comfortable chopping for a long time the BM-E.
The best from the swing from the wrist as opposed to the whole arm
chopper-- Mr. Mojo
The list goes on but you get the idea;)

I collect knives, and they accumulate, but I use them all. I feel that using the knives is not only enjoyable, but it gives me a much fuller appreciation of the knife. However, I will not get rid of a knife just because I am not using it (often).

I plead guilty to being a user and collector.

The majority of the time I buy, test, then decide wether to carry or not. I have an equal amount of fixed blades and folders. A few, I purchased just for collector's value- But I have had some bad luck with that. The shelf that I had my collectors on collapsed and a mint Al MAR SERE 6 fell 4 feet to the concrete floor. It is now a user with 1/8" of the tip missing.

Crap.

I am definitely an accumulator. I will go on a (for instance) drop point hunter tear for a while...then all of sudden switch to tactical folders then, ZAP!!..it's traditional slip joints and then a particular steel...and on and on.

Anyway, I will occasionally be sorting through a drawer full of knives and be completely surprised by what I find...keeps it interesting :)

I use them all, except for a few that were gifts from my wife and daughters. That`s why I`ve been slowly getting rid of all of my extras.
