I have been a fan of Bladeforum for a while and have learned alot. Thanks to all of you.Question I have, who prefers to carry a single blade folder or multi blade knife and why ? I like the single blade in 2.5-3.5 inch range.I find on multi blade I just use one blade and not the others. Also I like that they can be cliped to my pocket. Thanks for your time. SGT

Multi-blade can be nice because of the options available. You can have them grinded at different angles, have a serrated and plain, have a dedicated food knife you always keep clean and so on. I like them, but I don't have any good ones around or I'd carry them more.

I agree with both SGT and Vivi. I like the security and larger blade of of a single blade locker. I also like the multiple blades and grind options of a stockman. As a result, I usually carry one of each. Stockman comes out when sheeple are around. If I need a bigger blade, I've got one handy as well.

Vivi, as for a multiblade, you can't go wrong with a Buck 301 stockman. Good knife, good price, have a look.

I'm a single blade knife guy. I suppose it is because I like the symmetry of a single blade knife.

Both at the same time. I carry some sort of single blade locking folder clipped to my right pocket, with a Leatherman Wave in the left.

I carry a SAK Ambassador in my FL pocket no matter what else I'm carrying. It just automatically goes in my pocket with my keys every morning.

SGT I'm with you and many others here. I carry a 4.25 in blade 9.25 overall length Dalton Combat Tiger in my FR pocket for quick cuts and self defence.
While in my FL pocket I carry a Case Congress knife. Dedicated food blade, peeler, electrical blade, stripping blade,Keep the food blades on the right side and the work blade are always on the left. Using the Case logo as my guide. SWKW HR on the belt right hip in Kydex because it looks so good there!
Peace.

I used to be a single bladed person but that has changed recently. I was cutting out and large speaker out of its housing to salvage the magnet and cought the blade on the metal frame. Needed to send some parcels and shape some cardboad latter and it was a real pain with a wrecked edge. if I had had a spare blade that would have been so handy.

I EDC a single-blade folder, but I can certainly see the benefit of a two-blade knife:
You could keep one blade razor sharp for those emergencies when you need a really sharp blade, and the other blade could be used for the tasks that would wreck the edge of a blade.

To all,Thanks for your feed back on this thread,I can see the use of multi blades but I just dont like all the extra stuff in my pockets. My keys and what cash the war department(my wife) lets me carry.Well shes not that bad. I just like to give her a rough time. That also why I like the pocket clip. Thank again SGT

I like the single bladed knives, in a 3-4 inch size. I have multi bladed knives, but only one blade ever gets used. And i always reach for my single bladed knives in the morning, and the multi bladed knives stay at home.

I prefer to carry a single bladed knife because most of the multi-bladed knives so have a one hand opening method which i prefer and i like the sloidness of the one bladed folders. I have never been much for multi-bladed knives although i have a couple.

On my traditional folders, I prefer having multiple blades. I can slip it into my pocket as easily as a single blade, and I have more options.

I have a 3" single blade that clips to my pocket for EDC. But, I also carry a SAK classic on my keyring. It keeps me from doing evil things with my single blade such as prying staples and the like.

I also agree with Airyq above. I carried a Buck 301 for years. It is a good knife. But I found that I like a bit more steel, and I like a knife I can open with one hand.

I'm a SAK fan, I always have one with me. I like having a large blade and a small blade in one compact package (in addition to other items such as a screw driver blade which is great for light prying). I used to be a one blade fan until I found myself in a few cutting situations where I wished I had a smaller blade with me. I'm not too big on knives like stockmen and congress with 3 or 4 blades but one big and one small seems to work well for me.
