Title says it all. I am getting the impression from some older threads that your are not supposed to do this. True or false? I ALWAYS flick my one handers open and have not had a problem with any of them. Not wanting to stir up trouble, just wondering. Is there an "official" stance on this matter? As a soon to be new sebbie owner I am looking to get info up front. I can get used to not flicking if I have too:( ;) :D Thanks for helping out a soon to be newbie.

Chris and Anne Reeve have stated that flicking will cause excessive wear and tear on the knife and thet advise against it.

I think there's a difference between using the thumb stud to "flick" the knife open as opposed to holding the handle and "whipping" it open, whereby slamming the back of the blade against the stop pin. I use the thumb stud and kind of flick the blade open. Not real hard, but enough to get the job done. I don't think this kind of opening is a problem.:)

The Sebenza will take as much "flicking" as any other one hand opener, probably more. ...but my Sebenza is a tool and I take good care of my tools. I don't "burn rubber" in the driveway because it puts wear on my drive line and tires. I don't pull an electrical cord from the outlet by the cord, putting stress on the cord/plug area. I don't use the garage door opener to enter the house unless I'm parking the truck in for the night (I use the front door). I don't use my ratchet wrench to pound nails. See the pattern? Just because we "can" do something doesn't mean we "should" do something. I guess if I get the urge to flick, I'll buy a some other knife to satisfy the feeling.

I don't care how much flicking a Sebenza will take, especially in relation to other knives, my isn't going to see any.
