When you're out buying a knife for yourself, are you tempted to buy something which is of no use to you (or less used)? What is the reason? I know i'm tempted but thank God i live so far away and it's troublesome to buy one.(helps to cut down the motivation and desire) At the end of the day, we're stuck with a dozen knives.......

Yes I bought a leatherman wave today and laying next to it was a cridit card knife I don't even think it is leagle to carry but I picked it up just the same now I am wondering what in the heck I am going to do with it. It will end up with the other knives in that category. Some times I could just kick my self when I do things like that thank God I don't do it often or I would have a pile of those things laying around.

Hi EH1,

The same thing happened to me except it was a SOG Paratool.

That credit card knife was fun for all of 2 minutes. (I got the double edge one.)

Pile? More like closet!

Heh heh heh

I have never once needed my Hibben Throwing Axe for anything.

It's in the "not used, not custom, but just cool to look at" display section. Not quite relegated to the "no purpose at all including looking at" closet. Both areas are quite well populated, thank you.

So far I've done real well avoiding this. The key is to avoid "duplication of function" unless you're upgrading that category...hence I own three megafolders now. The older ones I'll keep as spares or loaners to houseguests.

I've got a bad habit of ordering sub-$20
knives along with the great knife I'm
ordering - because I can get all of them shipped together for the same fee as shipping
one. It's really DUMB, but I'll probably
continue doing it. So buy stock in Master
Knives(smiley face)!

Lucky for me(or is that unlucky), I don't have the residual funds to make those kinds of purchases. Lord knows I would if I could.

I haven't exactly divulged, but I have been tempted. I found knock-offs of custom Pat&Wes Crawford Point Guard knives in the latest SMKW magazine for only $5 each! They have aluminum handles and 420J2 blades, but think of how much profit one could make off of some of those!?!

The only problem is that they are only available with partial serrations, and they look like they are cut with a backhoe.

Sooo, temptation rests and life goes on

Yeah! Drop the chalupa...

Ahhh....it seems that we all have the same er...what should i call this....addiction?(sensitive word...sensitive word...)
Even Mike! Wow! I'm too attracted to sub-$20-$30 knives, but after conversion and shipping fees, it's not so sweet anymore.
While carefully analyzing the situation, i've come to a decision to collect only handmades and retain production pieces for daily usage. Agree? I've got half a dozen for daily carry though....sigh...

Yeah I bought this POS gravity knife made in Taiwan for 19.99!Flickered with the thing from the store to my house while my wife drove. Was tempted to go and get my loot back.Would have cost 15 in gas.So now it sits in my top drawer. If anyones interested in it let me know....$10 and its yours. But I warn you its a BIG POS!!!!!
