Are you Working, or are you Playing???

I was just curious about something. How many of you read and write your posts while youre at work, presumably working? I work at home from my computer, so im not really a good one to answer, though i admit freely that often im reading or writing posts while im SUPPOSED to be working. Of course since i am my own boss, the punishment for such behaviour is to immediately buy a new custom knife, no exceptions, zero tolerance... :)

So, when you ARE at work, are you at work, or are you at play. :)

I spent a good 4-5 hours a day on BFC while I was at "work" this summer. I used Lynx, a text-only browser, so that nobody would know what I was doing. They probably just assumed that the tech guy was doing some crazy computer stuff. :)

heh that's funny that you should mention that.. it was on my mind when i was reading the paying/non-paying membership thread.

i for one pretty much only read this forum when i am at work, but then again i only started reading it some time earlier this week. but i can see that this could spread.. as with the alt.knives NG, i used to only read it at work... as a sort of break to let my mind rest from designing stuff.. now i read alt.knives at home and at work... i could see the same thing happening here if i continue :)

I take the 5th on this one. Although my job as web-dude at NGK I think reading the forums would be WORK, and boy is it tuff

Most of the time while I am at work,
But sometimes at home...that is where my knives in process are.

<--- Posting from the cube at work

I've finished most everything for today. I have to clean up one more room before 3:30 PM, so I've got a bit of time. ;)

does school count? if so then i spend a good 2 hours of "SchoolTime" surfing the Forum ......I take school online :D

Cool, another person in a cyberschool.

And yeah, I pretty much do everything _but_ school when I'm "at" school. Though that doesn't keep me from getting straight As and finishing all the lessons and crap ahead of the pace I'm supposed to be going at.

Both. The boss doesn't care as long as I get things done quickly and correctly the first time, which I do.

Mostly at work, some days, several hours. I work in a Hospital Laboratory, so if there is no lab work, I "play" at work. We have a T1 landline for the Hospital network, so it's faster than my dialup at home. Though, after tonight, i'm off for a week to go hunting in NC.

I never read or post from work. Our company policy allows Internet use for personal business, within obvious guidelines. So, I would not get fired for reading BladeForums. However, I am not comfortable doing that. Every URL we access is logged, and the logs are monitored and spot-checked. Even though I rarely post controversial stuff, I like to be free to say what I want. I don't like the idea of someone from work knowing that much about my personal business.

Instead, I post from home, usually while eating dinner on weekdays or lunch on weekends. So, please excuse the occasional spaghetti sauce stains on my posts...:)

I am a LAND BARON!!!!!!!! :D :p
I am at home a zillion hours a day - except when I'm not. I have no one to see, and nowhere to be. I am my own boss. My tenants send me money, then I send money to dealers/makers for more knives. I can be on the computer checking out BladeForums whenever I want, and absolutely no one in my household dares to hassle me. Except my wife........

(edited for extreme profanity)

I don't work in an office, but our lab has DSL. Used to check out the forums on break or lunch occasionally, but some of the guys were going in there looking at porn on the company computers, and killed that privilege for the rest of us.
Anyway...when I'm on the clock, my time belongs to them. I play on my own time.

Same here. Fortunately, since I'm senior management, my lunch and breaks are when I take them (or as so often happens, don't take them :().I also try to get to work a few minutes early, so that I can do a quick check of the forums before starting.

Well I am currently out of work, So I stay on the forums from when I wake up till my wife comes home from work around 4. Then I get back on when she goes to sleep around 11. If I can just figure out a home business I will be set. I spend all day reading posts and never get bored.

Since I work for the only Law enforcement agency in Florida that does NOT have laptops in the patrol cars, I am forced to spend my off duty time checking out the forums. It's probably a good thing though.
