They say you can't change a tiger's stripes. I have noticed, however, that the tiger stripes on the Zero Tolerance 0301 and 0302 blades can, and apparently do, change.
As seen at ZT's web site, the 0301 has random stripe patterns, which I think I prefer. (http://www.kershawknives.com/productdetails.php?id=10)
At this retailer's web site, the 0301 has more or less orderly, forward-pointing stripes. There's also quite a bit more light gray than black on this blade, which I don't like. I've seen other examples with considerably more black than gray. (http://www.newgraham.com/detail.aspx?ID=7867)
I have no idea when any of these kinves were made. Is the tiger stripe pattern evolving over time to a specific, consistent look; or are the stripes on these knives more or less random?
If I order one of these online, there's no way to see exactly what I'm getting before it arrives, and I do have a preference for a certain look. If I buy it at the only store in town that sells this line, they'll have to special order it for me, so once again I won't be able to see what I'm getting until I've got it.
